Drawing inspiration from the ancient city of Teotihuacán, Cantú reinterprets its geometric urban plan, ceremonial pathways, and fragmented ruins as abstract compositions woven in silk and wool. The resulting rugs function simultaneously as objects, landscapes, and architectural drawings, quietly monumental works that invite both contemplation and everyday use.
“Archaeological sites are fragments of what once was; the missing pieces are left to our imagination,” says Cantú. “In their incompleteness, they become almost abstract forms that invite new ways of seeing. At Teotihuacán, the remaining walls form a maze-like garden landscape, almost like a work of land art. This site has always captured my imagination and inspired the abstract plan drawings behind the collection for Radno̲r.”
Incorporating a mix of textures and pile heights that play with positive and negative space, not unlike walls rising from the ground, each rug is constructed from a combination of hand-cut silk and wool constructed using traditional Tibetan hand-knotting techniques. A celebration of technique and material, the collection is crafted entirely from natural fibers and certified by GoodWeave, ensuring ethical production standards throughout the manufacturing process.
